Most little girls dream of being a
princess, I was not an exception. Between my mother Joyce Dugan Powell and my
paternal grandmother, Minnie Pitts Powell, I had all the fancy dresses to wear
that I could want.
One of my favorite dresses was one
made by my grandmother for my first grade school-carnival in light blue. Dressed in this miniature gown, with ringlets per my mother, I walked arm in arm with my co-candidate who was also my second grade boyfriend.
I still have the dress although it has faded—like me. Appropriate.

Hi Teresa .. what wonderful photos - and so good you've kept your dress. It seems to me the dress may have faded a little, but the photos and your words bring it back to life .. while its owner has only matured so well, and definitely gets better as the months gently roll by - well I think so! Cheers Hilary
o my god so pretty.
reminds me my mom has a collection of dresses I wore as a kid. sometimes i think they just occupy the space but for my parents its the memories, right.

I must be one of the few kids that my mother had to force into dresses and skirts and feminine things! You are so lucky to have all these heirlooms from your childhood. My mother gave all my stuff away, unless I saved something and hid it in a shoebox.
A beautiful dress! It's good you have kept the photos so it would remain forever beautiful in your eyes even though--as you've mentioned--it has faded.
Such a lovely photo at the bottom there and a beautiful dress. The young man looks just a little unsure :).

Wonderful pictures, Teresa. I love that you still have the dress your grandmother made you. Thank you for sharing.

All four of my girls were princesses! They still think they are...
Me and my sisters loved playing dress up and I love the little dress that was made for you. I only had one little fancy dress from many years back and the moths destroyed it in our storage locker. Thanks for stopping by and visiting my blog.
You have the dress, still, but of course I have to ask. What of the second grade boyfriend? :-) Ha~ The dress is beautiful. Lovely remembrance.
Wonderful pictures and memories.
